Lenasia: "Please, don't do it!"
About 113 houses in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg, were demolished on
Thursday and Friday ( Nov 8 and 9 2012). The Gauteng Department of housing
said the properties were illegally built on land intended for government houses.
Some of the owners weren't present when their houses were demolished
and others were literally dragged out from their properties.
A woman with a baby on her back stand waiting as
the police and bulldozer approached her home.
She started crying hysterically as her house was about
to be demolished.
A woman tried to stop a bulldozer from demolishing the house.
The woman who was standing in her house had to be dragged
from the property by the police.
Seconds after the owner of the home was removed with her baby
the bulldozer flattened her house.
Neighbors stood crying as they watched the house being demolished.
